Thelma J. (May) Giffen

Mrs. Thelma J. Giffen, age 80 of Hesperia, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Wednesday evening, September 23, 2020 after a brief illness.  She was born on February 12, 1940 in Fremont, Michigan to Herbert & Luella (Smith) May.  Thelma attended Aetna Calvary Church, and she loved to do crafts.  On June 4, 1960 she married Duane M. Giffen and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2016.  She was also preceded in death by 2 sons-in-law, Charley Skuse & Bernie McLean; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Gillette; 2 brothers, Wayne & Clayton May; brother-in-law, Ed Harmsen; and nephew, Tom Harmsen.  Thelma is survived by 4 children:  Larry (Cindy) Giffen of Hesperia, Cynthia Skuse of Hesperia, Pamela (David) Wakefield of Houston, Texas, Fonda Spaulding of Hesperia; 16 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren; 2 brothers:  Lewis (Judy) May, Lyle (Peg) May; and 1 sister, Carol Harmsen.   The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Aetna Calvary Church with Pastor Justin Blackwood officiating.  Visitation will also be held at church from 10-11 AM on Saturday.  Masks are a personal choice, and the service will be livestreamed on the Aetna Calvary Church Facebook Page.  Suggested Memorial:  Aetna Calvary Church.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
