Thelma “Lucy” Cordts, age 85 of Fremont, passed away on Thursday evening, June 9, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 17, 1936 in Kennett, Missouri to Oral & Nora (Carnett) Holmes, and she moved to Fremont, Michigan when she was 14. Lucy was a member of Fremont United Methodist Church, and she had worked at Fremont Mutual Insurance Company from 1965-1993. She had been a volunteer at Gerber Hospital Emergency Room, she was an EMT, and she had been a Hospice volunteer. Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, reading, crocheting, and traveling to all 50 states plus Europe. She enjoyed retirement life by spending winters in Brownsville, Texas, Arizona, Gulf Shores, Alabama, & Florida. On March 3, 1956 she married George A. Cordts and he survives her along with 4 daughters: Cindy (Rodger) Stoner, Sherri (Dale) Luchies, Lori Klug, Lisa Berens; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, William “Bill” (Linda) Holmes; 1 sister, Roberta Liebing; sister-in-law, Marie (Ben) Sovinski; and many nieces & nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her sister, Imogene Blank. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Fremont United Methodist Church with Pastor Wayne Brunt officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 11-12 Noon on Monday. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Suggested Memorials: Spectrum Health Hospice, or TrueNorth Community Services.
