Valmond Kenneth Smith

Valmond Kenneth Smith, age 99 of Fremont, went from his daughter Amy’s arms into his loving Savior’s arms early Thursday morning, February 5, 2026.  He was born on June 8, 1926 to Otto & Nellie (Canniff) Smith on the family farm in Fremont.  Valmond worked the farm for his entire life until he passed away there on Thursday.  Valmond was a member of First Reformed Church in Fremont.  He farmed with his wife of 68 years Esther (Akershoek) as well as with his 2 sons Douglas & David.  Valmond enjoyed bowling on the church bowling team and spending time with his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, on November 18, 2016; daughter, Marcia Rottier; son-in-law, Micheal Moore; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Worth & Zachary Willea; and by his brothers:  Darryl, Donald, & Raymond Smith.  Valmond is survived by 5 children:  Darla Moore, Douglas (Linda) Smith, David (Beverly) Smith, Wanda (David) Dickinson, Amy Smith; son-in-law, Andrew Rottier; 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great grandchildren; and by many nieces & nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at First Reformed Church in Fremont with Pastor Luke Stroven officiating.  A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church, and interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home and from 10-11 AM on Monday at church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to First Reformed Church.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
