Virginia Mary (Schubert) Whitman

Virginia Mary Whitman, age 97 of Fremont, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023.  She was born on November 21, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Anthony & Susan (Lift) Schubert.  Virginia had been the secretary to the purchasing agent at Inland Steel in Chicago, Illinois during World War II, and she had also been a school secretary for District 144 in Chicago, Illinois until her retirement.  She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont, where she had been a Eucharistic Minister for local nursing home visitation for over 10 years.  Virginia had also been a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary Guild at the Gerber Hospital Gift Shop for 25 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl M. Whitman; 3 sons:  Earl J. Whitman, Gregory Whitman, & Lawrence Whitman; and by her brothers & sisters:  Eugene Schubert, Eleanor Flotte, Fr. Gerald Schubert, Roger Schubert, & Florence Schubert.  Virginia is survived by 8 children:  Paul (Donna) Whitman, Mark (Vicki) Whitman, David Whitman, Christian (Linda) Whitman, Susan (Keith) Lyrla, Douglas (Karen) Whitman, Charles (Angela) Whitman, Virginia (Harry) Rogers.  She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great-great grandchildren.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont with Fr.
