Wilbur Karp, age 82 of Fremont, entered the glory of Heaven, on Friday, August 15, 2025, being welcomed by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born on August 26, 1942 in Grant, Michigan to Simon & Alberta (Kruithoff) Karp. Wilbur had been employed by The Bouma Corporation in Grand Rapids, Fremont Lumber Company, and Fremont Public Schools Maintenance Department, where he worked for over 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont. His hobbies included road trips with his family, fishing, golfing, RC airplanes, and woodworking. On December 31, 1966 he married Judy Kay Derks. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Melissa Vander Berg on July 15, 2010, by his sister Greta DeFaut, and by his sister & her husband Cornelia “Connie” & Carl Pell. Wilbur is survived by 2 sons: Kelly (Kortnie) Karp of Fremont, Nick (Jenny) Karp of Fremont; 5 grandchildren: Mayah, Mason, Kaylynn, Landen, & Eden; and by 1 brother, Neil (Pat) Karp of Dorr. The Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, with Pastor Drew Sweetman officiating. A luncheon & time to visit with the family will immediately follow the service at the church. Interment will be next to his wife, in the Reeman Cemetery.
