William “Bill” Newell Bowyer, Jr., age 75 of Fremont, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025. He was born on September 6, 1950 in Plainwell, Michigan to William Newell & Lois Jean (Davis) Bowyer. Bill was a US Marine Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He had been a truck driver, and he worked in construction and was a member of The Michigan Laborers Union. Bill was a member of Harvest Fremont, and he loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and watching sports. On April 16, 1988 he married Helen J. Cook and she survives him along with 4 children: Rebecca (Mike) Buxton of Gun Lake, MI, Amanda Bowyer of Portland, MI, Ryan (Brittany) Bowyer of Vanderbilt, MI, Billy Bowyer III of Fremont; 5 grandchildren: Tylor, Tanner, Jaxon, Jeremiah, & MacKenzie. Bill is also survived by his sisters & brother: Debbi Simpson, Pam (Jim) Allen, Kathy (Kenny) DeWindt, Paulette Meyers, Dan (Connie) Bowyer, Robin (Doug) VanWyk, Julie (Mike) Heynen, Lillian Bowyer; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: John (Vicki) Cook, Mary (Max) Mellon, Robin Cook, Marjorie Cook, Maggie Cook, Dan (Diane) Cook, Tim Cook; and by many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Lois Bowyer; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Fred & Gertrude (Clemens) Cook; brothers-in-law: Bruce Simpson, Doug Meyers, Ed Isset, Stephen Cook, Roy Cook; and by his nephew, Douglas VanWyk. There will be a time of visiting with the family at Harvest Fremont from 1-2 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, and a celebration of Bill’s life will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Matt Holly officiating. Refreshments and a time to further visit with the family will immediately follow the service at church. Suggested Memorial: The Newaygo County Compassion Home.
