Mr. John J. Stadt, age 87 years of Fremont, went to be with his Lord & Savior early Saturday morning, November 26, 2016.  He was born on August 18, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jacob J. & Anna (Grinwis) Stadt.  John was a US Marine Veteran of the Korean War, and he had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1986.  He had been an active member of First Reformed Church in Fremont for many years where he had been a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, choir member, elder & deacon.  John was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he also enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin in Paradise, Michigan.  On August 1, 1950 he married Mary E. Haadsma and she survives him along with 3 daughters:  Sue (Alan) Nieboer of Grand Rapids, Nancy (Kurt) Lorenzen of Cadillac, Jane (Mark) Dezinski of Fremont; 7 grandchildren:  Cara (Jason) Jansma, Amy (Shawn) Dooley, Lori (Seth Kaiman) Nieboer, Nicholas (Jodi) Dezinski, Jacob (Nicole) Lorenzen, Holly & Jenna Dezinski; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters-in-law:  Vonnie Stadt, Marge Eppink, & Deloris Haadsma.  John was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Martin & Richard Stadt; and by 1 sister, Carolyn Star.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at First Reformed Church in Fremont (348 E. Main Street) with Pastor Howard Davis & Ken Wallace officiating.  Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, and at the church from 10-11 AM on Thursday.  Suggested Memorials:  The First Reformed Church Mission Fund, or SOS Ministries of Matamoras, Mexico.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
